Chicago Northwest suburbs. City of Norridge

The house is built on 70X170 plot of land in the city of Norridge, located in the Northwest Chicago suburbs.

The family, who built the house, is planning to live there for a long period of time and has no intention to sell it in the near future.

After a long research which took the family several months, choosing between open loop, close loop and horizontal geothermal installation, they determined which option will best meet their needs.

Geothermal House Inc. made an offer for one Climate Master water to air ground source heat pump and one water to water heat pump complete with a radiant heating system.

The family was well aware what geothermal exchange system was like.

On the other hand it gave us an opportunity to prepare a design for heating a home not using any geothermal but exactly this one, one of the most efficient geothermal heat pumps in Chicago northwest suburbs.

Our objective in this project is to reach efficiency levels of over 620% total for both units.

The distribution system for the first and second floor will be designed according to the family specific condition needs.

One of the members of the family is U.S. Air force veteran and he had special requirements regarding air temperature and humidity level in one of the rooms.

Geothermal House will install custom designed air distribution system complete with air to water Climate Master H.P. with three zones as follows:

One zone will be the first floor, one individual room will be the second zone, and second floor will be third zone.

The conditions in that individual room according to that person’s preferences should be different (4-6 degrees higher) from the conditions in the rest of the house.

Cooling a house with geothermal is really fun to watch and especially to see how temperature goes down and humidity disappears in no time.

The Geothermal system cooling mode, when there is a large open area in the house between first and second floor, requires special skills not only from the people who install the system but from the person who designs it as well. The only question that arises in such situation is: Is it possible to achieve exactly the same system efficiency on both floors if the two levels of the house are open to each other and air flows freely between first and second floor.

Geothermal House has the knowledge, experience and installation staff to provide superior service and complete the job professionally.

Geoexchange system will provide and warm water for the radiant tubing in the basement. Complex automatic system will control all working processes of the radiant heat by means of digital automatic control with built-in special design algorithm. That control will not only manage all processes in the radiant floor system but will also keep the efficiency at its highest all the time.

This control can incorporate multiple geothermal water to water systems and provide at the same time the necessary energy for them to operate in high efficiency mode. This is the key to achieve efficiency and performance when using several ecological friendly systems.

There are some other options for this property…..The control system allows the homeowner to control remotely and manipulate the geothermal heating installation from any location in the world.

The total square area of the house is a little over 6,000 sq. ft. and the geothermal operating costs will be minimum throughout the whole year. (We are going to post the energy bills)
